Abstract: | In two different contexts of migration and of language contact, the Portuguese language finds its position of Dominant language in the first context, and as Non-Dominant in the second. This contribution aims to explore perceptions on the social relevance of languages within the two studied contexts, focusing on individuals’ languages and on processes of integration in new societies. Education is here approached as one of the main tools to assess migrants’ integration, while promoting a Heritage language in a new context of communication. |
